Mobile homes vs. manufactured homes
Ever wondered the difference between a mobile home and a manufactured home? We’ve got the answers!
Mobile Homes:
Mobile homes stopped being built in 1976. They instead became known as “manufactured homes” because they could no longer be pulled by a car or truck. This does not mean they cannot be moved; it only means they are built to be in a fixed location.
Manufactured Homes:
Manufactured homes are more durable and, in some cases, are better than regular stick-built homes because they are constructed using 2×6 studs rather than the conventional 2×4 studs.
Most people still prefer the term ‘mobile’ home, so we still tend to refer to them as mobile homes. However, the proper terminology should be “manufactured home.”
