But it doesn’t have to be impossible.
Your mobile home was a haven of comfort and joy up until your nostrils were accosted by the smell of dog urine. Don’t delay, you don’t have to live with that aroma wafting through the air.
We have a few ideas on how getting rid of dog urine smell from your mobile home is possible.
Baking soda and water
If making a run to your store is out of the question but you’re agonizing over the offending smell, have no fear.
First, you’ll need to combine baking soda and water in a small container. Add enough water to create a paste that you will now add to the offending area.
Second, you will pour enough white vinegar to cover the baking soda paste on the affected area.
Make sure you wear gloves.
Finally, use a clean towel to soak up the moisture. Repeat the above instructions.
Once you’ve taken the steps above, “rinse” the affected area with as little water as possible and soak in the excess with a fresh towel.
With a hair dryer, you can expedite the drying process. You can expect the vinegar smell to linger for a time, but soon your home will be smelling fresh and clean after a few days.
Rent a wet vacuum
If your stain is old and dried, it may need the extra cleaning power of a wet vac. These vacuums can be rented and they’ll do a pretty good job at soaking your carpet in hot water, then removing all the tainted water up out of your carpet.
After you’ve cleaned the area with the wet vac, apply a quality pet odor neutralizer. Before you apply it to the affected area, test the pet odor neutralizer in an inconspicuous area. Should the chemical wreak havoc on your carpet, it will be unnoticed.
Let the carpet dry.
Remove the urine stink from hardwood flooring
Thus far we’ve discussed carpet, but what about hardwood flooring?
Well, first of all, remember that you should test any cleaning or odor solutions in a hidden area prior to using the application.
To combat the pet urine stink on your hardwood flooring, we’ve got just the recipe for you.
You’ll need 1 cup water, 1/3 cup white vinegar, 1/4 cup baking soda, and 1/4 cup mild dish soap.
Shake up the solution in a spray bottle. Let it sit for fifteen minutes and rinse the mix off your floor with a damp towel. Dry it as best you can.
While you may feel ammonia is effective in dealing with your cleaning needs, we suggest you stay away from using it. It’s not safe for you or your pets.
To deal with a puddle of urine on your floor, mop it up as soon as you can. With a spray bottle filled with one part vinegar to three parts water, spray down a microfiber towel. With that towel, you’ll want to vigorously clean your floor.
After the floor is completely dry, add some baking soda over the affected area of your laminate flooring. Let it set for about twenty-four hours.
After you’ve swept up the floor, but you find that the urine smell is still present, have no fear.
Get your hands on some enzyme cleaner geared towards dealing with pet urine. Let the enzyme cleaner dry and re-apply as necessary.
A few tips to avoid future accidents
You should know that accidents are going to happen, that’s just the nature of living in an imperfect world.
However, there are some things that can be done to lessen the potential for accidents.
If your pooch is still in the training stage, you need to exercise consistency in training.
Not consistently scolding your pup for every accident they cause will only confuse them. The learning curve will be easier if you scold them after every mess. But don’t neglect to love on your pooch afterward, to be clear that you love them.
Train in the right place
Until you can trust your pet to not leave a mess on the floor, it’s best to restrict your pooch to hard floors. This will make cleaning up a breeze.
Give them enough time outside on a consistent basis
While it may seem like wasted time, letting your dog out often will give him many opportunities to take care of business where it needs to be taken. Don’t forget to shower your pet with praise every time he does his thing in the right place.
Happy you, happy doggy
Getting rid of dog urine smell doesn’t have to be a pain. With the right tips, you can chase away the smell in good timing. Your mobile home shouldn’t have to be a place to be ashamed of with the proper care and effort.
